Som "I-Matang" (utlänning) får man finna sig att bli skärskådad av barnen. Vi såg aldrig några andra vita människor som åkte med de lokala bussarna.

As a "I-Matang" (foreigner) you have to stand being an interesting object for children to look at on the local buses. We never saw some other white people on the buses.





Vi framförde hälsningar och levererade ett fotografi av en kvinna från Kiribati som är bosatt i Sverige. Detta är hennes kusinbarn i Bairiki.

Sjöfartsskolan i Betio utbildar många unga män från Kiribati för uppdrag, framförallt på tyska fartyg. Deras inkomster kommer delvis tillbaka till nationen som ett viktigt tillskott till deras ekonomi.

The Maritime Training Center educates many young men from Kiribati to get work overseas, many times on german vessels. Their incomes comes partly back to the Kiribati as an important addition to their economy.

Although Tarawa is a very tiny island, the traffic is heavy and here you can see the result after a friday night.








Som sagt, barnen kan konsten att roa sig på enkelt vis. Några plastpåsar och lite korallgrus räcker för dem.

As we wrote earlier, the children knows how to enjoy themeselves. Some plastic bags and some coralsand is sometimes all they need.

Nedskräpningen är tyvärr omfattande, särskilt runt Betio.

Sadly there is a lot of litter, worst is Betio town and the vicinity.
